There are two reasons you should advise your florist of your intention to have your bouquet preserved:

  • As choices are made concerning the secondary flowers, filler and greenery used in your bouquet, the fact that you want them preserved needs to be considered. Some florists aren't familiar with which flowers preserve well, and which flowers are difficult to preserve. (If you're interested in knowing about some of the flowers that are difficult, click here.)

  • The second reason for the coordination is that some florists spray the flowers with a non-wilting agent. The flowers now have a film that will lessen the effectiveness of the pre-treatment that's applied before freezing. Your bouquet will not be less beautiful if it's not sprayed with the non-wilt -- but your preserved flowers will be more beautiful if properly pre-treated prior to freezing.

We're happy to help you with this kind of coordination as a complimentary service.

Florists never have a problem with this coordination because, in addition to wanting your flowers to be beautiful for your wedding, they want to showcase their design and work. Having a bouquet preserved and displayed for years is great PR for them.
